Turbo Couplings for Industrial Fans
Installation of Voith VDN-25×2 turbo couplings to replace two-speed electric motors with single-speed motors featuring soft-start operation for industrial fans.
About the Project
Replacement of the Two-Speed Drive
As part of the project, the drive systems of industrial fans were modernized. The existing two-speed electric motors were replaced with single-speed motors equipped with Voith VDN-25×2 turbo couplings.
The turbo coupling is installed between the electric motor and the driven machine, providing hydrodynamic torque transmission. This allows the fan to start gradually without applying the full load instantly to the motor and the mechanical drive components.
This solution made it possible to switch to a simpler single-speed electric motor configuration while maintaining smooth acceleration of large-scale industrial ventilation equipment.
Project Objective
Replace the two-speed electric motors of industrial fans with single-speed motors while ensuring controlled soft starting of the equipment using Voith VDN-25×2 turbo couplings.
